ABOUT THE POSITION:

Our client is seeking an experienced, strategic, visionary leader to help manage and build New Profit’s portfolio. The Partner will be highly involved at every stage of the process, from helping to select the highest-potential social entrepreneurs for investment to providing strategic support to the entrepreneurs and their organizations across a multi-year horizon. The Partner will be passionately committed to New Profit’s mission, will represent the organization’s work to multiple external constituents, and help manage critical stakeholder relationships. The Partner will also be an active participant in the creation and execution of New Profit’s internal strategy, and manage, coach, and develop junior team members.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Portfolio Support o Leading relationships with portfolio organizations – serving as a sounding board and advisor to the entrepreneur and his/her leadership team on a broad range of strategic and operational issues o Developing strategic and operating plans to address key growth challenges o Drawing, where required, on strategic support from Monitor consulting teams o Serving as an active board member of portfolio organizations o Facilitating portfolio organizations’ access to all New Profit resources and networks

• Investment Selection o Participating as a decision-maker on investments at every stage of the process o Developing and maintaining a network from which portfolio organizations will be identified o Identifying strong candidates, and evaluating attractiveness of selected investments o Creating and presenting investment recommendations to New Profit Partnership and Board of Directors

• Firm Leadership o Managing external relationships with o Individual, family, and institutional investors o Other organizations and individuals in the field o Participating in the creation and execution of overall New Profit strategy o Managing, coaching, and developing staff

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• Graduate degree preferred with a multi-disciplinary skill set • Minimum of 15 years professional experience • Experience in a major strategy consulting firm preferred • Demonstrated ability to be a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and senior organizational leadership • Commitment to mission-driven work, exemplified through professional background or significant history of community involvement • Demonstrated leadership experience • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Superior organizational and process management skills • Entrepreneurial mindset, ideally with first-hand experience working in a high-growth, fast-paced organization

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

•Compensation competitive for the not-for-profit sector, commensurate with experience.

FLEXIBILITY:

•Full-time role in a flexible, entrepreneurial culture. Candidate preference for a Boston area candidate, but candidates open to temporary collocation will also be considered.
