Director of Talent at New Classrooms

Industry: Education
Function: Human Capital / Human Resources
City: New York
State: NY
Date Listed: 2012-11-07
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

New Classrooms is a recently launched, non-profit organization that creates transformative innovations for K-12 education. Founded by the creators of School of One, the award-winning personalized educational program named one of the top 50 inventions of 2009 by TIME, New Classrooms designs new models for instruction that reimagine the role of educators, the use of time, the configuration of physical space, and the use of data and technology within traditional public, charter, and independent schools.

Our client’s organization was born from the belief that today’s model for delivering education – one teacher and 28 or so students in a classroom – does not sufficiently account for each student’s needs and assumes that all students arrive on the first day of school with the same academic foundation and ways of learning. For a teacher, this presents the nearly impossible challenge of trying to teach grade-level curriculum while also meeting the needs of each student.

New Classrooms complements the role of live, teacher-led instruction with other instructional modalities such as independent learning, collaborative learning, and virtual tutoring. In doing so, the organization redesigns the classroom experience to better meet the needs of each and every student.

New Classrooms is a passion-led, mission-driven organization – one that continually looks to match its team members with roles that fit their strengths and interests. The organization looks to bring on new team members who share a deep-seated interest in improving our nation’s schools, solving problems in innovative ways, getting things done in a fast-paced and highly collaborative work environment, and growing professionally.
