ABOUT THE POSITION:
This is an ideal opportunity for a technical architect with high standards and a passion for leading teams to complete high quality commercial architecture projects that serve a social mission.
The Architect will manage design and production of schools for K-12 charter clients dedicated to providing exceptional educational opportunities for low-income students. Reporting to the firm’s principal, this person will oversee project teams to deliver exceptional work and manage client interactions.
The Architect will:
- Serve as a leader within the firm, demonstrating a commitment to delivering quality work with integrity.
- Manage teams of up to five people throughout all project phases: scoping, design, production and construction administration.
- Assess potential school sites and structures for their ability to fulfill each school’s needs; conduct zoning analysis.
- Direct project research, documentation, approval and project construction administration.
- Apply a comprehensive understanding of each school’s needs to the project at hand.
- Manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines, tracking schedules to meet project objectives.
- Manage client communication and relationships, serving as the firm’s representative on major projects.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Professional Degree in Architecture
- Professional Licensure, NCARB certification
- 10+ years professional experience, with at least 4+ years as an architect, including experience in commercial architecture
- Construction administration experience; thorough knowledge of New York building codes and building permit processes
- Excellent technical and architecture production skills and an exceptional eye for detail
- Experience in managing and leading project teams, with the ability to provide technical and administrative guidance; a demonstrated ability to adhere to project schedules, delivering on time and on budget
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Advanced design and documentation skills
- A drive to solve problems creatively and thoroughly
- Passion for high quality architecture that serves a social mission
- Strong AUTOCAD skills, REVIT experience a plus
- Experience designing schools a plus
- Project management software experience a plus, ideally in Merlin or Microsoft Project
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
