The Trevor Project is the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. We are a non-profit that provides 24/7 life-saving support via phone, text and chat. We also operate the world's largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth and run innovative research, education and advocacy programs. We've been saving lives every day for 20 years.

About the Position

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Clinical Operations Officer will lead all aspects of The Trevor Project's crisis services programs for LGBTQ youth. The role is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the day-to-day operations of our direct crisis services via phone, text, chat and our soon-to-come integration with future platforms utilized by young people. The Chief Clinical Operations Officer is responsible for ensuring high quality of care and innovating new and more impactful ways The Trevor Project can serve LGBTQ youth in crisis.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, providing counsel on the strategic direction of The Trevor Project's crisis services programming, including expansion (nationally and globally).
  • Expand the number of LGBTQ youth that we serve on our crisis services, while simultaneously working to improve our quality of care.
  • Partner with our technology team to constantly iterate on our custom-built, crisis services platform and continually improve the user experience for youth, volunteers, and staff.
  • Oversee a growing staff of more than 30 and help support hundreds of volunteers serving LGBTQ youth in crisis every day.
  • Use data to evaluate and monitor our performance and ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our operations, including integration of best practices from other leading organizations.
  • Represent The Trevor Project externally, including at leading conferences and to the press about the organization's clinical operations and impact.
Candidate Requirements:

Who you are:

  • Experienced operator. You have an extensive track record of running complex operations, ideally in a health care context. You have the managerial chops to run a 24/7 call center, digital programs and a leading-edge technology platform effectively.
  • Results-focused. You set clear timelines and drive projects to completion. You know that delivering on goals and metrics is the key to having significant impact and growing our programs, and you have a clear history of having significant and measurable impact.
  • Innovative. You look at the way things are and then imagine 20 ways they can be improved. You're always thinking about trends in healthcare and tech and how we can incorporate them.
  • User-centric. You place a premium on user experience, ideally you have experience in UX/UI or product design.
  • Analytical. You have significant, relevant experience managing by the numbers. You're comfortable translating a variety of information (qualitative and quantitative) into clear, actionable insights. Change agent. You relish change and know how to lead people through it.
  • Collaborative. ​You understand that the best way to meet and exceed goals is through outstanding teamwork.
  • Flexible. ​You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and working through competing priorities.
