About the Position

Over the past twenty years, Common Impact has built a leading model to connect talented professionals from global companies to high-potential local nonprofits through skills-based volunteerism. As corporate engagement and investment in social challenges deepens, Common Impact is expanding and evolving to meet the new demands of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) space. In 2020, Common Impact embarked on a three-year strategic plan to vastly increase the scope of its impact through seeding systemic change, bringing skills-based volunteering to harder to reach communities, and achieving program quality at scale.

Reporting to the CEO and serving as a key member of Common Impact's leadership team, the Chief Partnerships Officer will be responsible for shepherding the organization's brand and partnerships. The CPO will define the strategy and lead execution for revenue generation, including the maintenance and growth of the organization's corporate partnerships and the cultivation of foundation partnerships. In support of the organization's growth goals, the CPO will define, lead and execute the organization's marketing and branding work. Leveraging Common Impact's brand, messaging and collateral, the CPO will amplify Common Impact's brand identity and increase visibility, expanding our current partnerships and developing new partnerships.

This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned leader who is a masterful partnership steward and storyteller, has demonstrated an ability to generate revenue and lead client relationship development from initial pitch to signed work and has experience developing communication and marketing strategies to leverage organizational strengths and build a brand. The successful candidate will be a strategic systems thinker with experience driving results in an entrepreneurial environment and have a proven track-record of successfully managing a wide range of simultaneous revenue generating projects; will understand how to engage and activate individuals with widely varying backgrounds, experiences and goals.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Organizational Strategy and Executive Leadership

  • Partner with CEO in shaping organizational and revenue generation strategy, and supporting the growth and culture of the organization
  • Oversee the design and execution of a thought leadership strategy that amplifies Common Impact's presence, message and approach to effective corporate skills-based volunteering programs
  • Lead the execution of the annual business development strategy and forecast to meet revenue growth targets
  • Collaborate with the Chief Programs Officer to support the organization's impact by identifying industry trends, surfacing stories, and assessing sector needs
  • Engage with Common Impact's constituents and networks through speaking engagements at industry forums and conferences, penning articles, and representing the organization at other key moments and opportunities

Partnership Development and Cultivation

  • Oversee Common Impact's potential and current corporate partners, as well as its non-revenue generating partnerships (thought leaders, peer nonprofits, etc.) and foundation relationships
  • Cultivate new partners, shape individual partnership strategy and track the overall success of current partners
  • Generate new leads, craft proposals, lead pitches, to close deals with the support of the Senior Manager, Partnerships, the CEO, and the Chief Programs Officer
  • Manage, grow and upgrade the business of Common Impact's current corporate partners with the support of the programs team
  • Lead foundation and individual giving strategies to achieve philanthropic revenue targets

Branding, Marketing, and PR

  • Manage Common Impact's brand through marketing platforms, ensuring consistent and appropriate usage of brand strategy and assets
  • Lead a data-driven team to develop and implement an integrated strategic communications and marketing plan to advance Common Impact's mission, strategic direction, goals, and programming; including audience strategy, messaging framework, earned and owned channel plan, and KPIs and metrics
  • Create and maintain a style guide, templates, and manage organizational voice in accordance with the social and racial justice guidelines.
  • Identify distribution partners, industry forums and conferences, and strengthen the efficacy of Common Impact's website, blog and social media platforms.
  • Oversee the Director of Marketing and the external PR agency to lead the cultivation and development of press and media relationships, leveraging a small base of current relationships, a strong suite of content, and the networks of and referrals from corporate clients.
  • Serve as a liaison to Common Impact's marketing committee on the board of directors

Candidate Requirements:

  • 15+ years professional experience, ideally across social impact and corporate sectors, business strategy and finance experience preferred; 10+ years of experience managing and developing sales pipelines
  • Experience working with both nonprofits and corporations; CSR, employee engagement and / or nonprofit leadership experience a plus
  • Expertise and familiarity with key funders and organizations in the social impact space. Existing relationships with key funders are a plus.
  • Strong people management leading through collaboration and shared accountability with high emotional intelligence and comfort with agile role definition
  • Strategic, creative mindset that can set a marketing strategy and lead a team to execute on it

  • Strong presenter and meeting facilitator, who understands how to form meaningful relationships with diverse parties

  • Dynamic speaker who is aligned with the mission and can tell the evolving story of Common Impact's work and impact in the sector

  • Comfort with leveraging technology and supporting the adoption of systems, with experience in Salesforce.com, Asana and Microsoft 365 a plus

  • Committed to working with diverse communities and to finding shared goals amongst varying experiences and perspectives

Compensation and benefits:

The salary range for this position is $146,000 - $190,000 annually and commensurate with experience. Common Impact offers competitive benefits, including 3 weeks of vacation, 10 holidays, the final week of the year off, and 12 sick days; a 401k plan and 2% match; paid parental leave; and medical and dental coverage.
