Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian nonprofit that advances children's rights and equality for girls. Working in over 80 countries, we tackle the root causes of challenges girls face to ensure they achieve their full potential with dignity and safety.
About the Organization
About the Role
What You'll Do
As the Senior Director of Integrated Fundraising, you will be a visionary leader on the Philanthropy, Partnerships, Marketing and Communications (PPMC) team. You will lead high-impact mass-market fundraising and donor acquisition strategies to achieve over $15M in annual revenue. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you will have a powerful voice in Plan's fundraising priorities and organizational culture. Your work will ensure that every donor—from child sponsors to digital givers—experiences a seamless, donor-centric journey that maximizes their lifetime value and impact on the lives of girls globally.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Fundraising & Revenue Growth
- Lead $15M+ portfolios across annual giving, year-end appeals, impact-based campaigns, and recurring giving programs
- Drive sustainable growth by designing cohesive lifecycle strategies that balance immediate cash needs with the creation of innovation products, including the migration of child sponsorship into the "Her Defenders" unrestricted monthly giving program
- Leverage data and analytics to set ambitious goals, inform planning, and build a "business case" for spending by articulating the financial ROI of acquisition channels
Influence and Donor Experience
- Utilize donor behavior data and segmentation to create tailored, persuasive communications across digital and traditional channels
- Translate programmatic work into compelling narratives that effectively communicate the organization's impact to drive donor retention
- Ensure cross-functional alignment, acting as the "strategic interloper" to break down internal silos, ensuring a seamless donor journey from mass-market acquisition to major giving portfolios
People Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team, implementing scalable systems that support continuous improvement and a shared growth mindset
- Foster a healthy, inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, equity, and belonging alongside rigorous performance goals and accountability
- Navigate a complex federated organization with a "locally led, globally connected" spirit, representing the US office in global workgroups and leveraging international resources
Who You'll Work With
- You will report to the Chief Development Officer and serve as a strategic advisor to the Board and leadership team.
- You will directly manage the Director of Donor Services and the Director of Digital Marketing, and supervise a matrixed team of 15, providing hands-on coaching and big-picture vision to directors focused on execution.
- You will frequently collaborate with the Director of Principal Gifts, Senior Director of Communications, Director of Development Operations and Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships to align communications, brand, and fundraising.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate is a seasoned fundraising leader who balances a high-level strategic vision with a "roll up the sleeves" orientation. You should possess:
- Extensive Fundraising Expertise: 12-15+ years of experience in fundraising and marketing, with a proven track record of managing $15M+ portfolios and building or optimizing recurring individual giving programs
- Proven People Leadership: 5+ years of experience managing and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to provide both hands-on coaching and visionary guidance
- Strategic Influence: Experience serving as an expert voice for leadership and Boards, with the ability to influence organizational decision-making and advocate for donor-centric investments
- Analytical Prowess: Proficiency in using data and analytics to set ambitious goals, track performance, and articulate the financial ROI of acquisition channels
- Collaborative Mindset: A "strategic interloper" capable of breaking down silos and navigating complex, matrixed, or federated organizations with transparency and openness
- Commitment to Equity & Mission: A deep alignment with Plan International's mission for girls' rights and a demonstrated ability to model principles of inclusion, accountability, and courage
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
